Yaso Matteria Viñas Viejas 2014 is the result of 15 years of research, quest and micro elaborations of some of the best plots in the D.O. Toro. During this time, our winemaker in Compañía de Viñedos Iberian, Álvaro Trigueros, has worked with different elaborations of grapes sourced from very old vineyards of Tinta de Toro variety (Tempranillo adapted to the climate and soils) of several villages in the area. The final project took its final shape on vintage 2014 ( after five elaborations ) based on very old grapes from the villages of El Pego and Valdefinjas. They are vineyards of more than 100 years of age, all of them of Tinta de Toro variety ( Tempranillo ), grown on very poor soils, sandy and stony, in a extreme climate, both in Winter and in Summer. Their grapes give as a result a wine with body and structure, but at the same time fine and balanced, with intense aromas of black fruit, mineral ( boulders ), minty, creamy roasted and also floral violet notes, that give it a feminine touch. In the mouth it is fruity, powerful due to the good raw material and very lingering in the aftertaste.
